Graduate Admissions Application to the department's graduate programs must be made online through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Applications for both programs are accepted for full-time study only, and for the fall semester of each academic year.
Essay. As part of the undergraduate application for admission, each applicant is required to submit one essay (minimum 250 words, maximum 650 words) from the list of prompts. The essay may be considered as a positive factor to enhance admissibility as well as for scholarship consideration.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by the early action deadline to receive priority consideration for admission to the university, merit-based scholarships and invitations to special programs.
